Work & Well-Being Webinar Descriptions
The Work & Well-Being webinar series provides a holistic approach to personal and professional well-being, guiding participants through key aspects of a balanced, fulfilling life. The series begins with Into the FLOW, introducing a framework for intentional living. Healthy Habits explores the impact of daily routines, while Mindful Practices offers techniques for stress relief and self-care. Healthy Sleep and Healthy Eating address the foundations of physical well-being, and Physical Activity emphasizes the importance of movement. Finally, Sustainable Change focuses on how to maintain long-term positive behaviors. Each webinar provides practical strategies to enhance well-being and support a healthier, more engaged life.
#1 Into the Flow
With Into the FLOW, we consider a framework that supports us to live genuine, intentional, meaningful lives. This framework is the foundation for our Work & Well-Being series. To live the life we want, we need to get into the FLOW—Follow the wisdom of our experience, Lead with inspired action, Observe our transformation, and Weave this knowledge into our daily lives. When we live from this place of FLOW, our life can unfold with elegance and ease.
#2 Healthy Habits
We all have habitual or routine ways that we think, feel, or do everything in our lives. In fact, our life experience is defined by these habits. Our habits develop through years of repetition and practice. They are so deeply ingrained that we perform them automatically—without conscious thought or awareness—which can make our lives better or worse, depending on the habit.
So, whether you like it or not, it is these things you do regularly that contribute to who you are as a person. They also determine the goals you achieve, how you feel, and the quality of your relationships. For these reasons, the practice of healthy habits can significantly improve your well-being.
In this webinar, we discuss the important role habits play in our lives and strategies to build healthy habits. We will engage in some activities to help you identify a healthy habit you would like to develop and the steps you want to take towards the goal of your choice.
#3 Mindful Practices
No matter where you currently are on the continuum of well-being, you have had days that left you feeling exhausted. Or endured stressful experiences that challenged your ability to maintain a sense of balance. Maybe you have been feeling depleted for some time. Perhaps, it has just been one of those days. Regardless of where you are at this moment, you know there are things you can do (and have done) to nourish and rejuvenate yourself.
In this webinar, we will engage in mindful practices that support your body, mind, and spirit—daily activities you can do even when you have only a few minutes for self-care. Together, we will take this opportunity to breathe, release stress and tension, check-in on our emotions, find our peaceful place, and set our intentions. These mindful practices will energize and nourish you in the everyday. We’ll explore activities designed to help you to identify self-care practices that best match your needs.
#4 Healthy Sleep
Every night, we have an opportunity to rest and rejuvenate our bodies through sleep. After a good night’s sleep, we wake feeling refreshed and ready to take on our day. When we experience short or poor-quality sleep, our bodies don’t get the restorative rest we need.
Sleep is essential for good health. Our sleep-wake cycles regulate many of our bodies processes, such as our immune function, metabolism, learning & memory, tissue growth and repair, among others. In this webinar, we will discuss components of healthy sleep, explore factors that contribute to healthy sleep, and identify strategies to support healthy sleep.
In this webinar, we talk about why getting high quality sleep is one of the best things you can do to support your health. We’ll explore some activities you can incorporate into your daily sleep and self-care routine.
#5 Healthy Eating
Most people understand that a balanced healthy diet is essential to overall health and well-being. Yet with so much conflicting information about what a healthy diet is, where do we begin? How can we prioritize making small, realistic changes to our diets that will have meaningful health impacts?
In response to rising rates of obesity and overweight in the US, nutrition advice for several decades focused almost exclusively on restricting fat and/or calories. This narrow focus has had enduring impacts on our nation’s health, including increasing rates of obesity, chronic disease, and stigma. More recent advances in our understanding of how diet impacts our physical and mental health call for a different set of recommendations.
In this webinar, we’ll explain how nutritional choices and recent trends in the U.S. diet have led to a rise in metabolic syndrome, insulin resistance, and associated disease. We’ll discuss persistent nutritional myths, and we’ll explore nutritional strategies for individuals to improve health and well-being.
#6 Physical Activity
While we all know that physical activity is important and benefits our health, there are times when life just gets in the way. And many of us hold unhelpful beliefs and assumptions about what we should do that prevents us from doing what we want to do to be active. As we examine the evidence-base about how physical activity affects our body, mind, and spirit, we can reconnect with the play, resilience, and well-being that it can bring to our everyday experience.
In this webinar, we explore the essential role movement plays in our life. We will help you to identify physical activities you enjoy, benefits of being active, and a goal that inspires you to move.
#7 Sustainable Change
You have made many changes in your health behaviors over the course of your life. There are some behaviors that were maintained while other behaviors that were not. What is it that makes change sustainable? How do we consistently practice behaviors so that it becomes an enduring habit?
Throughout your life, you’ve identified changes you want to make. You’ve moved through your ambivalence, increased your motivation, and progressed through the stages of change. You’ve also practiced strategies that helped you to make the change. These experiences provide the knowledge and skills essential to long-term change.
In this webinar, we explore how you can create sustainable change. We will engage in activities that highlight the key skills and strategies to maintain the changes you have made. We will also celebrate the empowered life you have created for yourself and the future that is yet to come.
